Poetry from J.J. Campbell

your powers are limited

walk hand in hand
with all the regrets
that got you to here
there is never a
reason to look
behind you
your powers
are limited to
controlling only
what is in front
of you
there’s plenty of
demons waiting
for you
no need to mingle
with those from
your past
all of them seek
the same thing
as you do
the end

———————————————————————-
you eventually die

i always got too
attached too soon
in my early years
i have worked hard
to change that as i
have aged
i think i have done
a decent job
the hard part is
realizing the simple
aspect of living
you get older
you feel alone
you eventually
die
that’s life
the lucky ones
get a chance to
take a different
path
i’m happy for
them
though i wish they
wouldn’t rub it in
the faces of the rest
of us
——————————————————————————-
the show never stops for anything

dead bodies
still on the
ground but
the bright
lights mean
the show
never stops
for anything
not when
there is
money
to be
made
there will
be plenty
of time to
grieve for
the dead
whenever
you are
sharing
a beer
with
them
wherever
the fuck
you are
going
when
you die
——————————————————————————-
nothing good happens when i am not drinking

forty long years
of always having
the need to put
me in my place
in a crowded bar
in front of your
friends and family
you finally got
your wish
congratulations
although, i want
you to keep in
mind
we crazy fucks
tend to carry
a grudge a
tremendously
long time
even longer when
a sibling could be
plotting revenge
—————————————————————————-
a happy ending

i
suppose
we
all
want
a
happy
ending
i
guess
this
was
what
they
meant
when
they
said
ignorance
is
bliss
