One thought on “Poetry from Noah Berlatsky

  1. OH!? OoooK! As someone who has quoted Noam Chomsky, who can also be as blunt as Noah Berlatsky, in a number of my books and articles, particularly “Chain Letter To America: The One Thing You Can Do To End Racism, A collection of Essays, Fiction and Poetry Celebrating Multiculturalism” on his thoughts on America’s relationship with the iconoclastic country Haiti who staged only successful slave revolt in history against European fascism to become the first black republic, I’m not too surprised at this author’s astuteness about Ezra Pound who, according to National World War II Museum.org, was .”..after more than 20 years living abroad as an expatriate in Italy, poet and Nazi sympathizer Ezra Pound was charged with 19 counts of treason against the United States. During World War II, Pound broadcast pro-Facist propaganda into the US, accepting payment from the Italian government.” Berlatsky’s comments are germane to the epoch of white supremacy and antisemitism and oppression of anyone deemed “different” from the ruling majority in the U.S. of A.! Just know that, idealistic as it maybe, there can beautiful harmony in individual and disparate identity…you can disagree with your brother without wanting to dig his grave! Don’t give up on each other. “Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and the test of our civilization”. These words, spoken by Mahatma Gandhi – a man who made civil rights and freedom the mission of his life -, contain the essence of what it means to value diversity and promote inclusion in our society.
