I Long for Your Love, Mother
I am far away, yet my heart longs for peace,
Where all my loved ones gather in sweet embrace.
But if I tell you what I truly desire,
It’s our peaceful home, filled with love and grace.
A spotless courtyard, green trees all around,
Long wooden platforms with quilts spread wide,
The gentle songs of birds are the sweetest sound,
Oh, Mother, I long to be by our loving home’s side.
You would bake our bread, so warm and fresh,
And break it apart as soon as it was done.
We’d dip it again and again in cool water,
And eat with delight beneath the morning sun.
“Thank you, Mother, may you always be well,”
We’d say with love, as our hearts would swell.
My beautiful youth still lives in our home,
My playful days with the girls I would roam.
I miss those days, dear Mother, so much,
Those childhood moments, their warmth and touch.
I am truly happy, surrounded by love,
My husband cares for me with kindness and grace.
I am grateful to them, yet deep in my heart,
I miss you, dear Mother, wherever I am.
Though far away, my heart stays with you,
In every task, your thoughts see me through.
Even if someone lays the world at my feet,
No one can ever make your place complete.
Whenever I miss you, tears fill my eyes,
I drift into memories as each evening arrives.
Though everyone around me may care and adore,
I still long for your love, Mother, evermore.
