I hear a sigh in the distance and suddenly
Realize it had come from me.
My dreams are of long ago when
Life was simpler and most days
Happiness surrounded me.
My sighs keep on and my dreams
Become a source of comfort.
I am whispering into the night
When there is no one to hear me.
I whisper my dreams into the darkness.

Loneliness

I am lonely and afraid —
My thoughts travel back to
A time of togetherness with
My birth family.
The house was always filled
With friends, relatives and neighbors.
Mom in the kitchen preparing supper and
Dad in his favorite stuffed chair smoking
His special pipe and listening to me play
The piano.
The days were filled with the warmth and
Love that one could always sense.
There never seemed that life had to
Rush by —  life was just there.
My emotions are difficult with which to deal.
Though I have a small family of my own,
I long for those by-gone days of yesteryear.

SURVIVAL

Life is a long  fight for survival, or so it seems.
I know there are so many confusions and health issues –
Families can be part of this  and cause us to feel real pain.
Our thoughts become a source of sadness and longing..
Our emotions become deep with despair.
Yet, we keep a glimmer of hope within ourselves.
We pray, talk to friends and browse through old pictures
Suddenly our thoughts turn to the future and the feelings
Of hope and faith begin to shape our mind instead of relentless
Depression.
The opportunities and gifts have been so many as we remember
the joy and happiness some have brought.
So we begin to change our selves
and look forward to sharing time and talents
in special ways with those around me.
We finally experience peacefulness within our soul.

A MORNING SUNRISE
Slowly at the first hint of morning,
We can perceive a small streak  of red
Beautifully stretched over the sky.
The sun is starting to make a  panorama
Of color with pinks and gold blending
Across the sky.
When the sun has fully risen,
Our eyes behold the beauty
And majesty of a sun that gives us
Healing, warmth and nourishment
For our fragile nature.

DEWDROP TEARS

Joan Beebe (left) and fellow contributor Michael Robinson

Like the dewdrops on a beautiful flower,

The tears fall gently on my face.

The small drops of rain cover the ground

With the tears of heaven reflecting the

Rays of the sun nourishing nature’s gifts,

Those dewdrops sparkle in the sunlight and

The beauty surrounding us refreshes our soul.

NATURE’S FURY

California fires stretching across thousands

Of acres with trees and brush waiting to

Feed this monster’s appetite.

Great walls of flames devouring

The ready food of timber.

Flames and smoke rising higher into the sky,

But the ongoing march of this giant of fire

Still taking with it hundreds of homes

And other buildings.

Many evacuations and those people

Have no choice but to escape

The persistent oncoming wall of flames.

It will take many years to recover the land

And the normal lives of those who lost everything.

However, the day will come when nature will

Take over and the beauty that was once

There will again be glorious in its new life.

VACATIONS

I think we all look forward to that

Break in our daily routine, whether

We work or we are at home.

In this busy world of rushing back and forth

Our dreams of fun and relaxation take over.

We browse through travel brochures and

The urge to leave our cares becomes stronger

 as picturesque thoughts take flight

 and our imagination soars.

Waving palm trees, glittering white sand,

Soft and soothing.

The ocean sparkles with the rays of the sun

Reflecting the beauty of the ocean rippled

With colors of azure blue and shadowy green.

Nature has brought peacefulness to one’s mind

And the stresses are carried away on the

Poignant sea wind.

LIGHTING UP THE WORLD
THE INFUSION OF LIGHT BEAMS
CAN BE FOUND ALL OVER THE WORLD.
THESE BEAMS CARRY WITH THEM
 THE SEEDS OF KINDNESS,  TOLERANCE
AND LOVE.
THEY LIGHT UP A CONFUSED AND
DARKENED WORLD.
WHEN THOSE BEAMS OF LIGHT CAUSE
OUR PLANET TO BECOME THAT SHINING STAR
IN OUR UNIVERSE,
THERE WILL BE PEACE, LOVE AND JOY AMONG
ALL PEOPLE.
