Poetry from Ahmad Al-Khatat

Posted on 03/15/2024 by Synchronized Chaos
Leafless branches

Despite taking many sleeping drugs, even so I struggle to sleep well.

I remain awake and disconnect
from issues that make me sad.

I close my eyes and pretend
to pass out before opening them.

In a leafless branches country,
I'm aware I need to learn to dream

like an immigrant who taught
me how to dance on the horizons.

Instead of laughing and dying,
I plan to clear my thoughts as

when I go rinse my mouth.
