Poetry from O’tkir Mulikboyev

THE RAIN SONG

Rain, oh rain, pour down and stay,

Milk down blessings on your way.

The sleepy springs have closed their eyes,

Wake them joyfully to the skies.

Your falling drops are pearls so bright,

Let painters paint them with delight.

The earth’s great pot is parched and old,

Let your waters turn it into gold.

Let gutters sing a cheerful song,

Nature plays music all along.

Let happy children join their hands,

And praise the rainbow o’er the lands.

Deep in the mountains, in gardens green,

Let rushing valleys now be seen.

Into the streams, let clear springs flow,

Full of sweet nectar, watch them go.

You bring abundance, heavy rain,

Let racing clouds drift by again.

And on the farmer’s furrowed soil,

Bake bread of drops for all their toil.

Come, scatter joy and pure delight,

And open up our inner sight.

Across the hills and fields so wide,

I wish to pick flowers by your side.

Rain, oh rain, pour down and stay,

Milk down blessings on your way.

The sleepy springs have closed their eyes,

Wake them joyfully to the skies.

AUTUMN TIME

The fallen leaves drop from my hair,

The heavy shadows fade to air.

My soul washes away the care,

Standing still…

Before the clouds frown in the sky,

Bringing their trays from up on high.

Flakes of rain softly drifting by,

Asking how we feel…

The carts, the furrows, drawers and ties,

The bustling loaders start to rise.

Deep thoughts pour down before our eyes,

At early dawn…

Golden molds on every track,

Heaps of color, front and back.

Inner love ripe with no lack,

If you just gaze…

A sudden chill runs through the spine,

A thousand glances wake and shine.

Gold bars drip from the sun divine,

Drink them in…

The fields are patches of great grace,

Abundance decks this sacred space.

Lullabies of hard work’s embrace,

Gather and reap…

Autumn heaps the harvest high,

The markets buzz as crowds pass by.

Sweet halva melts like secrets sly,

Life feels whole…

The storage shelves go down in size,

The winter’s near, warm cloaks arise.

The heavy hoes drink syrup wise,

Like a painted view…

The autumn landscapes charm the sight,

Petals dance down in graceful flight.

Beauty adorns the world with light,

In autumn time…

Prostrations line the earthly floor,

The bodies turn to paths once more.

Soft feathers weave through nature’s door,

Like the symbol of a heart…

Life’s rush and pillows fly away,

The ticking clock counts down the day.

Autumn’s poise tempers life’s display —

Both a guest…

And a host…

The golden autumn…

THE SOLUTION TO HAPPINESS

The hearts that are weary will heal up one day,

But those with no heart merely drift on their way.

A few gentle hearts melt the ice into streams,

A smile unties knots that are tangled in dreams.

Each soul will share bliss as the seasons roll by,

And happiness then will enlighten their sky.

If only the world could forget how to hate,

Today would surpass yesterday’s brightest fate.

A centenarian grandpa lives life with a goal,

His old aging wife smiles with joy in her soul.

The air is as pure as a clean, sacred mind,

Like innocent babies, no stain will it find.

To sharpen your speech, rub it hard on a stone,

To find the solution, stir fires unknown.

The moonless dark night will look radiant and bright,

If you kindle your heart with love’s endless light.

Time waits for no one if you sit there and cry,

Or lead your own steps where the steep canyons lie.

Though bitter hot peppers may season your meat,

The bread that you break will taste hearty and sweet.

You discover your true self in library halls,

You see who you are where the loud echo calls.

A wealth that is greater than all worldly gold,

In reading and books, you will surely behold.

If you wish to fly high, you will spread wings and soar,

If you wish to embrace, you will hold and adore.

Consider your health as the greatest award,

Drink happiness deep, let your spirit accord.

Don’t drown your brief days in a river of grief,

Life passes like storm-winds, so fleeting and brief.

Justin 9 place the bright sun in your chest for a while,

Don’t wake in the night with a tear, but a smile.

The beauty of living is never regret,

Envy eats up the heart where its shadows are set.

Admiration will lift you to heights that are grand,

And purpose builds kingdoms from castles of sand.

The hearts that are weary will heal up one day,

But those with no heart merely drift on their way.

A few gentle hearts melt the ice into streams,

If you smile, you will loosen all knots from your dreams.
