Poetry from Shokhida Nazirova

My mother

My mother’s arms are earth’s most sacred peace,

A sanctuary where all my fears release.

Her every silent wish defines my way,

The meaning of my life, night after day.

Through sleepless nights, her prayers rise for me,

She trusts my future more than I can see.

One gentle look from her becomes a prayer,

For mothers are heaven walking everywhere.

Your name upon my lips makes my voice shake,

A thousand thanks are far too few to take.

Your love—an endless ocean, deep and wide,

When storms surround me, you are still my guide.

You were my mother, father, strength, and light,

Allah’s greatest blessing in my sight.
