Poetry from Sushant Thapa

As a Thinking Creature

We share a country with

Himalayan Snow,

Some of us celebrate cremation rituals

And burn like dust,

Some of us are buried in the graveyard

And lie close to Mother Earth.

Different religion,

Different death rituals,

Death, an inevitable force.

I caught a glimpse

Of your god,

You knew why I worship.

We share the country.

A mother does not wish

Her son to be out on the street

In a protest.

Why this rage

Among the brothers?

The chair is shaky

In the capital,

It is not good too.

We keep shaking the chair

And look for capable ones.

Let religion not be a crime

Of our weakness

As a thinking creature.

We should bring a new dawn

No next option

Is as natural as it is.
