THE CANOE AND THE RIVER

They tell a story, 

of the canoe and the river, 

That she loved him,

and that he waited for her. 

She of wood, 

he of green reeds, 

She with her arms, 

Of ancient oars. 

Evening would come, 

and he with his warm water, 

would give her a kiss, 

Until the next day when she arrived.
