Poetry from Ozodbek Narzullayev

YOU HAVE CHANGED, MY FRIEND

Your steed of luck is galloping high,

You’ve reached the heavens, my friend.

Making a few coins on the fly,

You’ve changed so much, my friend.

I greet you now, but no reply,

No warmth or spark left in your eyes.

No word or thought for old days gone,

You’ve changed so much, my friend.

You’ve built grand mansions in the air,

Enjoying glory without end.

Your feet no longer touch the earth,

You’ve changed so much, my friend.

If you should stumble down one day,

You’ll search for true friends in the end.

Do not forget who you once were,

You’ve changed so much, my friend.

Yet still I wish you safe and well,

May mountain-faith your soul defend.

This fleeting life is just five days,

You’ve changed so much, my friend.
