Fifty Shades Darker is the second book in the Fifty Shades series by E. L. James. It is about Christian Grey, a man who is heavily into the whole kinky sado-sex scene. In this book it goes into more of why and how he turned out the way he did. He gets back together with Ana after she leaves him in the first installment of the series. If you enjoy reading or are into the whole S & M kinky sex erotica, then this is the book for you. This is a New York Times best seller so it seems like a lot of readers are into it, curious about it or want to get into the whole kinky sex scene.
Small Persons With Wings (they hate to be called fairies) by Ellen Booraem
Small Persons With Wings by Ellen Booraem is a
very well-written, cute book.
It could appeal to the reader of any age. It is about Melanie Angelica Turpin and her family. Melanie and her family had a Small Person With Wings living in their home until she was in kindergarten when she told her class about the fairy that lived with them. Then
Fidius took off and did not return until years later. One day her father gets a phone call from someone claiming to be
his father’s lawyer, stating that his father Orgiers has
passed away.
They pack up and move to the Inn that her
grandfather owned. It also had a pub in the cellar of the
Inn. They then discover a fairy (Parvi Pennati) living in an
old slipper in the chandelier of the pub. The pub is and inn
is very run down and needs lots of work. They soon find out there isn’t just one fairy. They have come upon
hundreds. The grandfather had a ring that will make an
elixir the fairies need for their powers. What happens then
is quite the adventure. Although this book is geared toward
a younger audience, I think that all ages could enjoy the
story. I highly recommend this book.
This is a book I checked out from my local library. Charlaine Harris is the author of the Sookie Stackhouse series which became a series on cable TV. This series is the Aurora Teagarten series. Aurora Teagarten comes across many dead bodies throughout each of the series and then goes about solving the crimes. It is well written and really keeps the reader engrossed throughout the whole book. It is very hard to put down the book once you start reading. She has your attention from the very first page. I recommend this to anyone who loves Charlaine Harris books and others. This is a series in which you don’t need to read the first in order to know what is going on. You can pick up any book in the series and get interested right away. Definitely worth the read!
Shot Through Velvet : A Crime of Fashion Mystery by Ellen Byerrum
In this “Crime of Fashion Mystery”, Lacey Smithsonian is touring the Dominion Velvet factory in Black Martin, Virginia with her boyfriend Vic Donovan, a security specialist/private investigator. As they are touring the plant, they come upon a body tied to a spool of blue velvet immersed in a vat of blue dye. The victim is a very much despised person in upper management at Dominion. What ensues is a hilarious and adventurous story that will keep you turning pages until the end. This is another brilliant murder mystery by Ellen Byerrum. A must read for mystery lovers. I personally loved this book.
Death on Heels by Ellen Byerrum
Death on Heels is another book in the A Crime of Fashion series. In this installment, Lacey Smithsonian, the fashion reporter for the Eye Street Observer in Washington DC, goes to Sagebrush Colorado to interview Cole Tucker her ex-fiancee, who has been arrested for the murder of three women. She doesn’t believe that he is the murderer, until during her interview in the jail, he throws Lacey over his shoulder and makes a break for it.
He takes off and explains to her that certain people are vey interested in all of his land for the minerals under the land. Now Lacey has to decide whether her ex fiancée is a murderer or just a jerk, and if she is going to help him get to the bottom of it and try to prove his innocence. A Very Special Year is a delightful and captivating book about a small very special book store. Valerie takes over running the book store when her Aunt Charlotte has suddenly gone somewhere and just left a note for Valerie to look after her book store for her.
Valerie and her boyfriend do not understand why the aunt just doesn’t close the store. It does not seem to be doing all that well financially and they do not think many people even read actual books anymore. Valerie stays and tries to bring the bookkeeping and bookstore up to date. On many of the days when she does not have much to do, she sits down with one of the many books and reads while she drinks a cup of tea or coffee. She comes to realize how magical reading can be. She comes to realize how the feeling of the pages, the feeling of the cover and the smell of the different books can be just as captivating as reading the books themselves. She becomes so immersed in reading the many different stories she tries to save the bookstore from closing.
Then she comes across a book called A Very Special Year. The book only goes so far and does not seem to be completed. Valerie thinks the book is just a defective one that got through at the publishers. Then a man comes in and sees it sitting in the wastebin. He asks if he could purchase the book. Valerie tells him it is not a complete copy and tells him he can just have it. He convinces her to take remuneration for the book. This is a delightful book that was originally written in German and then translated to English. I really enjoyed this book. It could be enjoyed by a wide variety of ages.

Being Seen by Anlor Davin
This is a very deep and important (in my opinion) book on autism. What sets this book apart from other books on autism, is that Ms. Davin is autistic. It is her journey through life as an undiagnosed autistic child and through part of her adult years until she is finally diagnosed. It tells of the heartbreak and pain, both physical and emotional, of being different in a time when “different” is both not understood and frowned upon. This is a very informative and important book for people who are or may know someone that has been diagnosed or may have not been diagnosed yet of autism. I found this memoir to be very educational and informative. It is well written and I highly recommend reading it.
This book is a suspenseful murder mystery that will not disappoint fans of Mary Kay Andrews. If you have not read any of her books, I highly recommend them.
The Weekenders takes place on Belle Isle, a fictional island off the coast of South Carolina. The story has many twists and turns. It will definitely keep the reader on the edge of their seat throughout the whole book. When you think you have the murderer figured out, you will find out you were wrong.
It is the story about a family that owns most of the island, the husband of the main character dies mysteriously and everyone finds out he had a rather sinister side to him. He was the CEO of Belle Isle Enterprises and was secretly going to negotiate to turn the island into a huge tourist attraction while borrowing money from his in-laws and others to fund his project.
Then everyone finds out that all of his “projects” fell through and he is found dead. Then everyone is a suspect until the killer is found. This is a really great read for all mystery buffs and will not disappoint. I highly recommend The Weekenders.

Legend of the Coco Palms Resort is a suspense mystery that is most definitely a must have for the mystery lover and fans of Ms. Rita D’Orazio. I absolutely love this book! It will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page with its surprising twists and turns. Abby Parker works for Brickman and Brickman law firm in New York. She is sent to Kauai to obtain the land where The Coco Palms Resort sits. The resort was completely ruined by a hurricane and has stood emptied since. While there, she comes across Kanoa Kahala, whom she was dating and very much in love with in New York until his abrupt departure. As she is walking around the Coco Palms she looks up into a second story window and thinks she sees a woman looking down at her. What follows is a riveting story of romance, suspense and mystery that will keep you gripping the edge of your seat until the very last page. I know you will love this book as much as I do and will read it again and again. This is Rita D’Orazio at her best. You will NOT be disappointed.
Moonlight Hunting follows the character Moonlight on her quest to find the evil Persuasive, Barnabas. Moonlight and other Cardonians are trying to free the minds of the other people from all the sectors before Barnabas takes over their minds and makes them do his will. Death will come to all who resist him.
Moonlight Hunting is book two of the Cardonian Chronicles. It will keep the reader on the edge of their seat. I loved it. This is Ms. LaFleur at her best.
The Village of Bones, by Mary Mackey, is a fantasy that is definitely a must read. it is the prequel to the Earthsong series. It is the story of Sabalah who is a young woman who desires more than anything to conceive a child. She is given a vision she will conceive a magical child; however, she must leave her village and everyone she loves there. So, Sabalah and her lover leave. What follows will keep you on the edge of your seats to the very last page. This is definitely Mary Mackey at her best.
