Poetry from J.J. Campbell

——————————————————————————–
all the fucking stars aligned

i never was that
cool, confident
motherfucker
that could just
walk up to every
beautiful woman
and say hello

i needed a plan,
alcohol and all
the fucking stars
aligned

now, well past
those fruitful
years

i only allow
myself a few
moments to
think love is
even possible
anymore

and on what
fucking planet
that happens
to be
——————————————————————–
god had the chance to love me

i rest easy at night
comfortable in my
madness

laughing at all the
wrong moments and
enjoying that awkward
silence

god had the chance to
love me but said no

i treat each day as
my fucking revenge

i have no delusions
on winning or actually
enjoying the ride

i only seek to inform
the sheep on how to
find joy in the misery
of others

and when they tell
me i’m evil, i laugh

and tell them evil
is filling these fools
with false hope

evil is stealing
their money to
rape their children
in god’s name

and trust me

the religious people
i know can’t fucking
stand facts
———————————————————–
someone lost in the war

there’s a woman
in a wheelchair
staring a hole
through me

i’m guessing i
remind her of
someone lost
in the war

maybe a son

or a lover from
a strange land

with the scowl
on her face

i don’t think
it was a good
relationship

as she was being
rolled away she
gave me the finger

i guess that lover
cheated on her with
someone she knew
———————————————————–
the underside of the world

a hazy
morning
on the
underside
of the
world

those
daring
eyes
piercing
my soul
even
before
the first
cup of
coffee

today is
going to
be another
day we
convince
ourselves
that
everything
is going to
be alright
—————————————————————-
baptized

i got
baptized
on april
fools day

the first
thing i did
after getting
dunked for
the third
time was
fix my
hair

the
congregation
laughed

they were
in on the
joke long
before
i was

Poetry from Sravani

Those days

The patterns on my bed sheet

Take me back to those days

When I used to sit

In a nearby park

With feelings of emptiness

But the pink colour

Of my bed sheet also reminds me

Of those flowers

Which always smiled at me

And whispered to me

About the joyful life

I am living now.

Poetry from J.D. DeHart

Seems As Though
this may be the last poem
I will write.  Is that the case?
I’m not really sure.
Is it the thousand thousand
not yet messages from editors?
Not really, although I have been
told my submissions do not
fit the current needs, and even that
an editor’s process is a mystery
unto itself.  Whatever that means.
It just seems that my words
are making their way into new
directions, no longer ready to stack
up like stanzas.
As I put together my second
poetry collection, stringing experiences
and moments, I begin to think,
Maybe I will make a return after
a short creative nap.
Or else my words will continue
as long strings of prose, as researched
writings, who knows?  Egads.  I almost
just rhymed there.
Yet, definitely time for a poetic
break, at least for now.

Heaven is My Horse Fly (V2)

By Michael Lee Johnson

Horsefly

A common horse fly

peripatetic traveler

vacationing in my world

into my bathroom,

(ride me cowboy, fly)

it’s summer time-

lands on my toilet seat

pit stops at Nikki’s Bar & Grill,

kitty litter box, refuels.

Thirteen round trips

buzzing my skin and skull-

he calls them “short runs.”

Steady pilot, good mileage,

frequent flier credits.

I swat his war journey,

splat, downed, then, an abrupt end.

Poems for All Occasions by Linda Mangram
poemsforalloccasions
Poems For All Occasions by Linda Mangram is my new favorite book of poetry. The first section is poems of Inspirations. These poems are truly inspirational. After I read them I had a bit more hope and feeling of happiness. My favorites are ‘Words of Comfort’, ‘Three Days’, ‘Think Before You Speak’. Although all the poems in part one can lift you up with Ms. Mangram’s words of kindness, hope and a sense of being uplifting. In Chapter 2, On the Lighter Side, has cute, funny poems that will make you smile and lighten your heart and mood. I absolutely loved ‘Southern Lady’. It has a ring of truth to it. Chapter 3, Family and Friends the last chapter. It will touch your heart and remind you how important friends and some families can be. This is an awe-inspiring book of poems for yourself and to give as a thoughtful gift to someone you know.
A Night’s Tale by Coulter
nightstalecover
If you love horror, suspense, and the supernatural, A Night’s Tale is a must for your home library. It is filled with many twists and turns and will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. I loved it. This would make a great gift for yourself or a friend who also loves horror. I highly recommend A Night’s Tale by Coulter.

Poetry from Ryan Flanagan

Some Spoiled Dim Sum Nietzsche

Robert Motherwell painted his way into my apartment

with his Homely Protestant

and his Totemic Figure

while Rothko’s many Greeks

toiled away at some spoiled dim sum Nietzsche

that was free before eleven

and the things you do in stairwells

are hardly uplifting,

such appellations

are meant to be ironic

Russ –

I will meet you at the Sparkling Dime

at half past five

to talk about your movie

about how we can write all the actors

out of the script so that the props

will work for free.

  1. Humanity is moving in Circles!

ben24

Times after times,

Humanity thinks it is moving

Civilizations after Civilizations,

Humanity thinks it is advancing

Reigns after reigns,

Humanity thinks it is in control

Inventions after inventions,

Humanity thinks it is in comfort

Values after values,

Humanity thinks it is living

Relationships after relationships,

Humanity thinks it is all-knowing

Truths after truths,

Humanity thinks it is at peace with self

But:

Humanity seems to be lagging behind time

Humanity’s advancement is retarding

Humanity is rather subjugated

Humanity is in discomfort

Humanity is nearly second to dead

Humanity seems to know nothing

Humanity is at logger-heads with self.

Nonetheless…

Humanity seeks for the way-outs

It thinks they will pave the way

The adventure begins…
