Poetry from Stephen House

i should

i take part in an online discussion
and know i should stay with it
as it could assist me with something
but i leave the chat and go outside
under the full moon
and watch bats flying high in the sky

my grape vine is spreading
across the neighbour’s fence
into all their trees
and i should do something about it
but i don’t as i like its rapid climb
and the visual chaos it delivers

i need a new car urgently
so on the way back from the city
i stop at a car yard i’m told is ok
and almost go in there
but instead i drive off in my old car
singing a song above all the rattles

my passport has expired
and lately i’ve been thinking of travel
so i look up renewing information
as i should get this sorted out
but i don’t read the renewal website
as there are way too many words

as i walk towards the water
a man tells me a shark was just seen
i thank him for the information
and know i should not swim here
but i wade into the ocean anyway
and swim out deeper than usual

a fabulous publisher contacts me
offering to publish my next poetry book
i am excited by the opportunity
and know i should go for it
but the idea of a book launch is daunting
so i refuse and suggest we do it later

i should answer text messages
pay unpaid bills
and respond to emails
but instead i sit under a friendly tree
and start writing a poem
about everything i should do

Poetry from Alma Ryan

Yet Tomorrow is Inevitable

We may be tired, with our hands tied down,
the bluelight staining our eyes.
We may be crying with wants to wallow,
to sink down, down, down.
We may sleep in, under the covers, begging to
steal warmth for our own.
We may long for company and still,
push those we love away.
We may wish for a different life,
to be someone else.
But you are so beautiful when
you hate the world.
But your tears look like falling stars,
ones I could wish upon.
But you want to live in a single, good piece
of time and be happy, happy, happy.
But I beg for my ribs to break so I could pull out
my heart, and give it to you,
bloody and beating.
Yet tomorrow is inevitable,
always coming, always running towards us.
What if we fell in love
with the world, all over again.
What if we admired the small moments and
became hoarders of the mundane.
What if we search closely, for the
interconnectedness, of all things.
What if we step off the path just to
watch the trees sway.
What if it rains and we lie,
in a pool of cloud tears, soaking.
Because I, too, fear being perceived.

A Sound of the Body

The world with its ecosystem has a physical body
Where we live and die - the elements are inter related
As the sky with its stars and planets
The human body - with its flesh and blood
Good or harmful deeds- feeling bright or sick
Time is passing so rapid that makes it aged, decay and die
The condition is the same for body of us and the earth
By the cutting down of so much trees
The weather getting imbalanced day by day
Takes it so hot and dry, breaks the banks of the rivers
Seeping the oil on the waters
It is as if the hungers feed
Emitting the carbon dioxide much on water and surface
That the greenhouse effect we suffer from the terrible heat of the sun
The life is changing to decay, die day by day
Because of its misuse of everything, ignoring all we should have
As the sight of the disbelieving incidents of the earth
Feeling sleepy at the time of raining, I go to my bed
In the sunlight or moonlit night
I walk on the carpeted ground with its beautiful green
How far the glorious fitness of the body will continue
The condition of my body inside and outside speaks out, speaks out.

We are hosting our Metamorphosis gathering again! This is a chance for people to share music, art, and writing and to dialogue across different generations (hence the name, the concept of ideas morphing and changing over the years). This event is also a benefit for the grassroots Afghan women-led group RAWA, which is organized by women in Afghanistan who are currently supporting educational and income generation and literacy projects in their home county as well as assisting earthquake survivors. (We don’t charge or process the cash, you are free to donate online on your own and then attend!)

This will be Saturday April 6th, 2-4 pm in the fellowship hall of Davis Lutheran Church at 317 East 8th Street in Davis, California. It’s a nonreligious event open to all, the church has graciously allowed us to use the meeting room. You may sign up here on Eventbrite.

Also, we encourage everyone in the California area to attend the third annual Hayward Lit Hop on Saturday, April 27th. This is a public festival with different readings from different groups throughout downtown Hayward coinciding with Hayward’s choosing a new adult poet laureate, culminating in an afterparty at Hayward’s Odd Fellows Lounge. Several Synchronized Chaos contributors will read from their work at the 2024 Lit Hop.

This month, for April’s first issue, we’re reflecting on the change of seasons. We’re moving from winter to spring, or summer to fall in the Southern hemisphere. Much of the other work here deals with changes in moods, situations, stages of life, or with cultures and societies in times of change.

J.D. Nelson’s haiku evokes intriguing and disorienting seasonal transitions, while Jacques Fleury offers up an impressionistic reflection on a sunrise and the liminal state of consciousness between sleeping and waking. Hurliman Almuratova contributes a poetic piece about spring’s eventual return as Sayani Mukherjee glories in radiant poppies, Don Bormon listens to the symphony of natural sounds around him and Maja Milojkovic revels in the scents, colors, and renewal of spring. Annie Johnson exudes about diaphanous dawn, moonlight, and newborn creation in her poetry.

Mesfakus Salahin sees love all over the natural world around him. Kristy Raines speaks of a steady love where people know the depth of their connection even without using words. John Edward Culp writes of the tender growth of a relationship where there is trust. Davronbekova Sevinch speaks to the need to preserve integrity and trust. Graciela Noemi Villaverde writes of a gentle and silent love among the larks and lilacs. Inobat Karimova describes how her girls’ agricultural science club at school reflects the respect of her society for women, nurturing, the land, and life. Tammy Higgins’ photography concerns intersections of human culture and nature where nature remains present and vibrant.

Amirova Niginabonu’s work speaks to the cycles of nature and the ways of the mind as Michael Robinson reflects on loss and resurrection during the church season of Lent.

Dildora Toshtemirova writes of celebrating her birthday after the loss of her parents. Sevinch Raxmanova illustrates coming of age amidst the loss of her parents and grandparents. Nosirova Gavhar’s piece focuses in on a single date to represent her grief at the loss of her mother.

Music pulls Taylor Dibbert back to thoughts of a marriage that ended, as Bill Tope describes an unconditional love that begins awkwardly but becomes very real until the title character’s death. Uzbekoyim’s poem reflects the pain of deeply caring for someone who does not return the care. Daniel De Culla comments on the vulnerability of women and children and the precarity of family life.

Surayyo Usmonova’s poetic story intermingles love, loss, and sorrow as J.J. Campbell speaks to longing and forbidden desires and Prasana Kumar conveys the pain of silence and words left unsaid. Sabina Rasulova writes of dreams dashed with reality and the absence of loved ones. John Sweet wonders what life is worth in a harsh and alienating world.

Mykyta Ryzhykh evokes the “silent emptiness” of alienation and modern warfare and Bill Tope dramatizes the toll of war and military and political oppression on civilian families and children. Azemina Krehic mourns the losses of so many mothers and the violence against women in Bosnia. Christopher Bernard highlights the folly of cycles of conflict and revenge in the Middle East. Mahbub Alam also expresses his hope that Gaza will find the peace he sees in nature. Linda Gunther reviews Ruta Sepetys’ WWII refugee survival story Salt to the Sea, exploring character development and internal and external conflict. In Nahyean Taronno’s detective story, while justice triumphs at the end, deception and violence seem a continual threat. Laylo Bakhtiyorova dramatizes the intensity of emotional pain, but reminds us that it will pass.

Muheez Ohamilekan gently encourages caution before being swept up in uncontrollable experiences as Maurizio Brancaleoni compares the uncertain journey of life to a train trip with an unstated destination.

Mark Young’s postwoman poems allude to life’s surprise gifts: one never knows what might arrive in the mail. Alan Catlin’s found poems repurpose other famous modern works in a fresh and surprising way, like Polaroids from the lives of artists.

Christina Chin, Shane Coppage, Marjorie Pezzoli and Jerome Berglund send up a group of concrete collaborative haiku that play with words and language.

Eddie Heaton crafts impressionistic takes on relationships and words and literature through long voyages of the mind. Goran Tomic alludes to a different kind of voyage through his collages of vintage images of flowers and clothes and buildings, illustrating city life in the time of the flaneurs.

Sevinch Tolquinova celebrates the value of reading and learning from books. James Whitehead illuminates the honest empathy of Richard Vargas’ poetry collection leaving a tip at the Blue Moon Motel.

Jeffrey Spahr-Summers speaks to a society in transition with his poems on the latent cultural and racial tension in South Africa. Z.I. Mahmud writes of the power and limits of words and memory in Toni Morrison’s Beloved, and how the novel’s characters reclaim their flesh and history.

Thaalith Gimba offers up a dramatic poem of self-assertion, as John Grey crafts muscular poems on human needs and physical existence. Qurbonova Gulsanam extols the power of dedication and self-efficacy in working towards a goal as Donoxon Ibodullayeva reflects on the potential for developing Uzbek youth leadership through school and after-school organizations. Dildora Toshtemirova urges readers to join her in living their dreams as Stephen Jarrell Williams speculates on whether he can bring his into reality.

Duane Vorhees’ poems of the gods and the ancients situate personal and cultural history within geological and natural timescales.

Teaching elementary school students based on new methods

International assessment systems, which are developed and put into practice as a result of high pedagogical factors in today’s developed period, at the same time serve as a practical experience for free assimilating students. The immediate main task of pedagogues working in primary school is to work individually with students whose learning level in the class or group is lower than the learning level of students who study well, and during the day and week. It consists of regular monitoring, analysis and continuous control of the student’s educational activity. The use of five general directions of pedagogical technologies is justified when working with children who have difficulty adapting to school, who have lost interest in learning for various reasons, or who are more talented in practical issues than in scientific research. These are child-centered education, interactive and modern methods of teaching, didactic game, cooperative learning, and problem-based learning technologies. Achievements in the fields of science, technology, production and technology require the creation of new generation textbooks for educational institutions operating at all stages of the continuous education system.

Types of independent work, first of all, should be carefully thought out by the teacher, directed to the educational goal and continuous. In this, the opportunity of each student should be taken into account, age characteristics, interests should not be neglected. One of the conditions for the mental development of students is to complete tasks by “remembering”. In this case, special attention is paid to the ability to define the plan and choose the work method while understanding (imagining) the purpose of the work to be performed, to be able to independently find the mistakes made and to correct them. It is useful to choose convenient methods, ask guiding questions, and recommend key words so that students can complete tasks quickly and correctly.

It is natural that students have difficulties in performing independent work with quality. Because their imagination is still bright and their vocabulary is not enough. Experiments show that children think faster when they work under the guidance of a teacher. In order not to get used to this situation, it is necessary to encourage them to think more independently. In order to attract the attention of students, mention the events in the text: “Why did it happen?”, “How do you think it should have been?” by asking questions like, approving his opinion, “if you think again, you will find”, “very good”, “very good!” it is useful to use encouraging words such as.

If the child is satisfied with the first independent work, his interests will increase and he will start to do new types of work. The results of independent work should always be checked. Verification can be oral or written. Before writing, the child thinks, summarizes his thoughts verbally, and then begins to write them. He tries to express his opinion, make an observation about a question or issue that has been allowed. This process appears and is strengthened on the basis of (verbal) speech. For example, a student thinks before expressing his thoughts in writing. In a whisper, he talks about the names on his own (in pedagogy, this asset is considered active). The first forms of essay writing begin with such works. The child reads the text, analyzes it orally, comes up with titles, and plans what pictures to make.

In primary grades, it is important to protect students from stress and various psychological influences, and to strengthen their knowledge through interesting games. The teacher’s use of games that encourage students to be smart and quick and to express their thoughts correctly and clearly gives effective results.

Poetry from Thaalith Gimba

from the Book of Chaos: Into Smithereens (a poem)

paddled from a misfit to cast-off,

slouching on the pavilion of daily unrest,

my mind’s eyes sighted grief from afar

hovering, grinning

waiting, hoping

to feed on the flesh

of the tears my pains harvested,

alas hope saw I,

tortured by the hunger

of the society’s anger aimed at me,

but I say you this,

with every fibre of my frigid faith

fraught with frustrations,

I wish every life that befouls me—

have their nurtured joy

into smithereens!
